 AYHA Board of Directors monthly meeting

Held at Amery Ice Arena, 6:30 pm

Members Present:

Mark Karnick, Kevin Smith, John Mork, Kathy Casselberry, Dan Severson, Julie Measner, Jeff Bohn, Laurie Harris, Mike Hanson and Erik Hellie

 Absent members:  Brian Melberg & Jeff Becker

Prior Board Meeting Minutes from March 28, 2011 were approved. Dan Severson made a motion to accept and Erik Hellie seconded the motion.  Minutes were approved.

Region 1 Meeting:

Dan Severson and Jeff Becker attended the WAHA Region 1 Meeting held in Spooner on April 25th , which is being held to discuss proposed changes that will be voted on at the WAHA annual meeting May 21st.

Playoff games will be changed to seeding teams and single elimination, there will no longer be playdown tournaments.  This was a good way to make some money if we were able to host a playdown tournament.

Lighting:

See attached quote of $6,720 from Rory Troff’s contact, Dakota Supply Group. 

Gary’s electric quote was $10,220 less the $2,400 rebate.

2011/12 registration invoice and letter:

Kathy asked the board to approve the 2011/12 registration invoice she put together and letter regarding the option to begin to making payments now and also in reference to summer hours and contacts.  Dan Severson made a motion to approve and Mark Karnick seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

Summer Work:

Mark Karnick put together a list of summer projects that can be done.  (see attached) 

This will be included with the invoices to be mailed out in May.

Fundraising policy:

Erik is updating the fundraising policy to accurately reflect that hockey family’s new to the association are not required to participate in the fundraisers the first year.  Also adding to the policy a statement regarding the seniors being required to sell the required amount or pay the required buyout by December 31st.

Home & Garden Show:

Received $2,000 from Amery Free Press and made about $700 in concessions

Gun Show:

Received $1,750 from admissions and made about $1,400 in concessions.  The organizers are very interested in doing it again next year.

Garage Sale:

Will be June 4, 5 and 6 during Amery Trail Days (City Wide garage sales).  Flyer has been sent out to members via email and will be included in the invoice mailing to members.

Next Board Meeting Date set for Tuesday May 31st  at 6:30 at the Amery Ice Arena.

Mark Karnick made a motion to adjourn and Dan Severson seconded the motion.
