Mission
To provide primary health care and preventative health education for the people of Pierce and St. Croix Counties in Wisconsin who have no health care alternative. Patients may call 715-307-3948 for more information.
Why do we need a free clinic?
“The uninsured have poorer health and shortened lives,” the National Institute of Medicine concluded in 2002, after studying a vast body of U.S. research. These consequences fall disproportionately on the working poor and minorities.
The Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services reports, “At any point in time during 2004… about 377,000 residents were uninsured. This is an estimated 7 percent of the state’s household population.”
The need is urgent. The rates of uninsured in Pierce and St. Croix Counties are even higher than the state average, as are the percentages of residents going without needed health care. According to the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, Pierce County ranked second to the bottom for the percentage of residents who went without needed health care in the 2005 Wisconsin County Health Rankings. St. Croix County also ranked in the bottom ten counties for this measure, receiving 62nd out of the 72 Wisconsin Counties.
