MONTHLY MEETING

February 12, 2009

 

Pledge was recited by all present.

 

Ted Kordner called recessed meeting of January 8, 2009 to order at 7:00 p.m. on February 12, 2009.  Motion by Ted and seconded by Hubie to adjourn.  No discussion.  Motion carried.  Meeting adjourned at 7:01 p.m.

 

Ted Kornder called monthly meeting of February 12, 2009 to order at 7:02 p.m.

 

Minutes of the last meeting of January 8, 2009 were reviewed.  Motion by Hubie and seconded by Ted to approve.  No discussion.  Motion carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

 

Rae Ann Bohlman stated that in the month of January we had income of $6,482.60.  Balance of $554.51 in checking and $283,373.48 in savings.  Also have one $20,000.00 certificate at Flagship Bank and a $20,000.00 certificate at KleinBank Chaska.  Total $323,927.99.  Motion by Ted and seconded by Hubie to approve treasurer’s report.  No further discussion.  Motion carried by all.

Permits:

 

Knife River – Representative from Knife River was present to talk about application permit for an asphalt plant for the Schmitz Pit – the same place pit as last year.  Motion by Hubie and seconded by Ted approve recommendation of renewal of Portable Asphalt Plant.

 

New Business:

 

Scott County Police Report – Deputy Olson was present.  21 calls this month – most of them were persons in the ditch, a couple of thefts and one DWI.

2009 Local Board of Appeal and Equalization – This date has been set for April 20, 2007 at 7 p.m. at the township hall.

Scott County – Local Recycling Development Grant – Motion by Ted and seconded by Hubie to tie on with the City of Belle Plaine on this.  Mona will write a letter to Steve Steuber at Scott County and let him know.

Scott County – Annual Utility Coordination Meeting and 2009 Construction Projects –

Friday, February 20th from 9 a.m. to noon.  One supervisor will try to attend.

Annual Meeting is March 10, 2009 at 7 p.m. – Discuss re-org meeting schedule change because of the election changes.

2009 Township Planning Area Meetings for Ordinance Updates – First one is April 22nd from 8:30 to 10 a.m.  Mona to call Brad Davis and offer our town hall for the meeting.

 

Old business:

 

Speed Study – Reviewed the speed study done by MN DOT.  MN DOT recommended as follows:

185th Street – Beaumont to Township Line – Currently 55 mph – proposed 40 mph.

 195th Street – Valleyview to Township #57 Currently 55 mph – proposed 45 mph.

 Fairview Lane – 190th to 195th  – Currently 55 mph – proposed 45 mph.

Township #57 – Currently statutory 55 mph except the portion shared with the City of Jordan.  The shared segment has an existing 45-mph speed limit authorized in 2002.  A 35-mph limited is proposed for the segment from US 169 to .62 north of US 169.   A 50-mph limit is proposed from .62 miles north of US 169 to Beaumont Avenue.  No change is proposed for the existing 45-mph limit in the shared segment.

Old 169 Blvd. – This road is now under the jurisdiction of Scott County.  The county plans to submit a request for a speed study.

We will wait for the remaining steps prior to doing anything.

Scott County – Resolution for Emergency Management Plan – Mona to call Chris to get information.  Bring back to March meeting.

TCPA – Mona to see if there is any information that the clerks from other townships can give to me.  Ted also has minutes from the meeting that he will forward to Mona.

Annexation and developers agreement – tabled.

Township Right-of-way Ordinance – tabled.

City of Belle Plaine Update – No update.

City of Jordan Update – No update.

MN Dot Update – No update.

Grant Update – Township Road #57 – No update.  Should look at putting something together on this.  Cy has asked Ted to go to a legislative meeting and meet with area legislators.  Ted will go and try to get information.

Union Pacific Railroad – letter to Union Pacific Railroad – No update.

Scenic Byways – No update.

Road Maintenance Report –

Jim Stang stated that two signs are down.  One by Apple Circle and one on Beaumont.

Also, the City of Jordan did some work by 185th and our gutter is now gone.  This is causing water to run down by Seversons.  218th is also getting some frost buckles.

36th Annual Township Office rs Spring Short Courses – March 18th in Mankato or March 24th in Hutchinson.
