City
of Jordan Comprehensive Plan Meeting – Official public hearing is scheduled
for July 25, 2006 at 7 p.m. at the
Jordan Council Chambers. Ted
provided board with copy of the draft plan and supervisors will comment to the
City. Ted stated that they went
through the comp plan in a presentation that Joann Foust did.
City of Jordan has to complete their 1998 plan.
They want our board to approve waiving the six-month period to speed the
process of completing their 1998 comp plan.
Les stated that he does not feel we should waive anything.
Ted also stated that the City of Jordan is submitting the existing land
use which is too much land for Jordan. They
are trying to get the 1998 plan approved by the Met Council.
Right now, we don’t have to do anything but we need to get to the next
meetings. Les doesn’t feel we
should do this as they have not cooperated with our township with regards to the
annexation agreements, etc. Les
stated that if this is going to be an attorney issue, who is picking up the tab.
Motion by Les to decline signing the waiver and let them go through the
process, seconded by Ted, approved by all.
City
of Belle Plaine Township Survey – City of Belle Plaine would like this survey
filled out. They want to do an
orderly annexation agreement. Talked
with Joann about this before the Jordan meeting started.
If they have an annexation agreement in place, the map provided would be
what it would ensue. Ted stated at
the present time, he does not feel we should pursue this as the City of Belle
Plaine does not have their ducks in a row either so we will sit on this also.
Will relay a message that when they really want to do business with us,
call us. Will not fill out the
survey but will call Joann Foust with MGD out of New Prague to let her know that
we do not really want to start anything until the City has all of their ducks in
a row.

Board
of Commissioners Filings – Ted asked the board what they thought about him
running for Commissioner being there is going to be a primary election.
Ted stated that he doesn’t have the money to play the game so it would
be just taking a shot. Board stated
that he should go for it. Ted stated
he’s having a hard time with this thinking about walking away from the
Township board.
